Foyle Film Festival to visit Iran ‘Funfair’

The 32nd Foyle Film Festival is to screen ‘Funfair'.

The Ireland-based Foyle Film Festival has drawn up a shortlist of its official selection with Iran-Canada joint short film ‘Funfair’ being on the competition list.

Kaveh Mazaheri will have his short ‘Funfair’ in contention for the Light in Motion Awards for Best International Short Film at the competition section of the 32nd edition of Northern Ireland’s only Oscar-affiliated film festival.

Recipients of the Light in Motion (LIM) Awards qualify for consideration in the Live Action Short Film Category and Animated Short Category of the Annual Academy Awards.

Winners of the Light in Motion Awards will be announced on Sunday 24th November at the closing night gala.

“Majid, a financially struggling man, comes up with a ploy in order to better the life of his wife Sara,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Funfair’ was screened at the 17th edition of the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania while back.

It was also screened at the 21st POFF Shorts (international short film and animation festival) in Estonia.

Foyle Film Festival features the best short films and animations from around the world.

In 2019, the Irish film festival is set to celebrate two milestones in the festivals history – 20 years of Oscar accreditation and 10 years as a BAFTA affiliated Festival.

The annual event will run November 15-24, 2019 in Derry, Northern Ireland.
